Locksmith in Brampton, OntarioWinter is hard
on locks. We know.

Freeze-thaw swells doors, road salt eats at brass, and a cylinder that was fine in October seizes in February. We free jammed locks without forcing them, adjust doors that have shifted, and use lubricants that stay workable well below zero.

What you can expect from us

When a key snaps off in the lock, the temptation is to dig at it with whatever is in the kitchen drawer. We would gently suggest not. The right extractor slides alongside the broken blade and draws it out without scoring the pins, which means the cylinder survives and only the key needs replacing. We then look at why it broke, because a key rarely snaps in a healthy lock.

High Security Locks

ScaleNot to scale

High security is about minutes and paperwork. Cylinders are rated by how long they resist skilled attack; key systems are defined by who may order a copy. We translate both into a clear recommendation for your particular doors and your particular worries.

  1. Layer 1The key

    High Security Locks

The pharmacy stockroom, the server closet or the cash office is protected by the same ordinary cylinder as the staff washroom. One lost key on a lanyard would open all of them.

  2. Layer 2The cylinder

    Lock Replacement & Upgrade

Every morning the front door key needs the same little dance: push in, lift, wiggle, turn. It has been getting worse for a year, and this week it took three tries in the cold before the deadbolt finally gave.

  3. Layer 3The bolt and strike

    Deadbolt Installation

The door from the garage into the kitchen closes on a passage knob with no lock at all. Anyone who opens the garage is one turn of a handle from the house, and the insurance renewal form has a question about exactly that.

  4. Layer 4The door and frame

    Break-In Damage Lock Repair

Police have come and gone, the occurrence number is on a sticky note, and you are standing in a cold hallway looking at a splintered frame, wondering how the house gets locked before everyone tries to sleep.

Safe Opening & Combination Change

Which fix fits?

Tap a situation. The answer opens here.

If Your deadbolt only locks if you lift the door.

Then Realign the strike and renew the hinge screws.

A dropped door binds the bolt; setting the hinges and the strike returns the smooth throw.

If The patio slider has only the factory latch.

Then A keyed auxiliary lock or a bolt into the track.

Sliders lift out or pop their latch; a second lock fixed to the frame changes that.

If The door from the garage into the house has a knob lock and nothing else.

Then Add a graded deadbolt with a reinforced strike.

That door is often the weakest on the house and the one nobody watches from the street. Deadbolt Installation

2021 census: what it means at the door

Every square is one home in a hundred.

  • 23 in 100 homes · newer homes
  • About 23% of homes in Brampton were built in 1980 or earlier, according to the 2021 Census.Recent builds often have steel or fibreglass entry doors rather than solid wood. They resist warping and take hardware well, and a locksmith fitting a deadbolt or reinforced strike works with the door's construction so screws bite into something solid.
  • Single-detached houses make up about 53% of homes in Brampton (2021 Census).Where the housing is mixed, expectations about what can be changed differ. A homeowner in a house decides everything; a condo owner works within house rules on the outer face. The locksmith knows which conversation to have at which door.

Frequently asked questions

Is a restricted keyway worth it for a business?

A restricted keyway uses blanks that only the locksmith or authorized source can obtain, released against whatever that key-control program requires, a signed letter, card, signature record or factory authorization naming who may order keys. Hardware stores and kiosks have no blanks, so copies are far harder to get without your say-so. It costs more per key than a standard keyway and is most valuable where keys pass through many hands, such as retail with part-time staff, shared premises or anywhere the count of copies has drifted before.

What is a master key system and does a small business need one?

In a master key system each lock accepts its own change key and also a master key above it, so a manager carries one key while staff carry keys that open only their own doors. Small businesses with three or four doors often manage without one. A master earns its place once there are several rooms with different people in them, or several locations, and the owner would otherwise carry a ring of keys.

What information should I have ready before the locksmith arrives?

A list of the doors and other locks you want included, a copy of the lease or the property manager's contact, every existing key you can find, and a rough idea of who needs to open what. Note which doors, if any, are interchangeable cores and where the control key is. Knowing your quiet hours and who opens up in the morning helps the locksmith plan the order of work and the key handover.

Can all my doors be on one key?

Yes, and most homes ask for exactly that. Every exterior cylinder is pinned to the same combination so one controlled key opens the front, back, side and garage entry. A gate or shed padlock on the same keyway can join it. For businesses, the same keyway can carry a small master system where staff keys open only their areas and a manager key opens everything. The keying plan is agreed before any pinning is done.
